Agency client onboarding checklist
Before you launch server-side GTM for a client, collect these items upfront. Missing one often adds a week of back-and-forth.
Access & ownership
- GTM web and server container admin access (or a named contact who can publish)
- DNS provider access, or a ticket template for the client's IT team
- CMS or tag manager access to install the client loader script
- Consent management platform (CMP) configuration details
Don't have admin access yet? Measurebase also supports linking a client's domain to your agency account by container ID, so onboarding can start before full admin rights come through.
Technical prerequisites
- Root domain and chosen tagging subdomain agreed (e.g.
mbase.client.com) - Server container config string exported from GTM
- Web container ID for the client loader
- List of platforms to route server-side (GA4, Meta, Google Ads, etc.)
Privacy & compliance
- Confirmed lawful basis and consent model for analytics/marketing tags
- DPA signed between client and Measurebase (included on all plans)
- Privacy policy updated to mention server-side processing if required
Launch sign-off
- Test plan: key events verified in GTM debug and platform dashboards
- Rollback plan: old GTM snippet documented and ready to restore
- Stakeholder sign-off on go-live date and monitoring window
Partner agencies can manage all client domains from one Measurebase dashboard. See the partner program for kickback details and multi-client workflows.
